Sloane is a master of New Englad Americana, which he documented in drawings and oils on board. Early American rural architecture and tools, along with his intensive studies of aviation, meteorology and clouds found their way into his paintings and into his 40 books, including An Age of Barns: An Illustrated Review of Classic Barn Styles and Construction and Barns and Covered Bridges.
